Growing your club doesn’t have to be complicated. Every successful membership effort follows a simple cycle: Attract guests, Capture their information, Follow Up with them, Invite them back, and Convert them into members. Like tending a garden, it takes steady attention and many hands to keep it thriving. The graphic below shows how each step leads to the next, and the tips that follow will help your club put the cycle into practice.

Here are some important things to remember:

Simple Ways to Bring in New Members

There are many ways to bring new members into your club. As you put the cycle above into practice, ask yourself:

  1. Are we sharing our members’ experiences and achievements on all of our online platforms?

  2. Are we keeping our photos current on all of our online platforms?

  3. Are we sharing what happened at our meetings on all of our online platforms?

  4. Are we emailing members after each meeting to share what they missed and what to expect at the next one, to build excitement?

  5. Are we regularly maintaining our social media and other online presence?

We are always looking for new and better ways to spread our message, but sometimes we need to go back to basics. Dust off the old guest book, email everyone who has visited, and send them a fresh invitation to visit your club again.

Membership growth is like tending a beautiful garden. If you stop watering, pulling weeds, adding fertilizer, and caring for your members, your garden will quickly show it. Keep your garden healthy, and remember that the work is lighter when everyone chips in.
