The Leadership Track
Below are the various manuals, programs, and projects associated with achieving education levels on the Leadership Track.
The Competent Leadership Manual focuses on different leadership skills through ten projects, each providing the member background information and an assignment that requires serving in one or more specified meeting or club roles in which the aspects of that skill can be practiced. New members are mailed this manual when the join. Completion of all 10 projects in the Competent Leadership Manual fulfills the requirements for the Competent Leader (CL) award. Serving as a Club Officer Running for and being elected to one of the seven club offices is a great way to learn new skills skills as well as serve your club members. Officer terms are typically one year starting July 1. At the beginning of the July 1 term, the officer team discusses and develops the Club Success Plan which plots the course to being a Distinguished Club. One of the keys to having a Distinguished Club is for Officers to attend District-sponsored Officer training. Completion of at least six months as a club officer in addition to helping prepare the Club Success Plan and attending Officer Training fulfills three of the requirements for the Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB) award. The Successful Club Series is a set of 11 educational speeches about improving the quality of club meetings and tips on attracting and maintaining members. These speeches are usually presented during a club meeting. Included in each speech kit is a script/outline and a PowerPoint presentation on CD. Presentation of a Successful Club Series module can fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) award or the Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB) award. Leadership Excellence Series is a set of 11 educational speeches that teach members the skills that they will need to be successful leaders inside and outside of Toastmasters. These speeches are usually presented during a club meeting. Included in each speech kit is a script/outline and a PowerPoint presentation on CD. Presentation of a Leadership Excellence Series module can fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB) award. Serving as a District Officer Running for and being elected to one of the eight different district offices is a great way to increase your leadership skill set as well as serve all the clubs and members in your District. Your network will increase substantially! Officer terms are one year starting July 1 and require that the District officer go outside his/her home club to promote Toastmasters as well as be a resource to other clubs and other club members. Completion of a one year term as a district officer fulfills one of the requirements for the Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) award. High Performance Leadership is a five-part program which offers instruction and practice in such vital leadership skills and activities as developing a mission and vision, goal-setting and planning, identifying values, building a team, and accomplishing a project objective. Completion of a High Performance Leadership project fulfills one of the requirements for the Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) award. A Club Sponsor is a person who is instrumental in forming a new Toastmasters Club. Sponsors take a new club lead from the District Lieutenant Governor Marketing and work to transform that lead into a new and viable club. The duties of a Club Sponsor are to:
HOW TO SPONSOR A NEW CLUB." Successfully chartering a new club can fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Leader Silver Award. A Club Mentor is a person acts as a coach and advisor to a newly formed Toastmasters club. Mentors do not run the club, rather they provide the new club's officers with options and guide the new club toward excellence. Mentor's are assigned by the District Governor. A Club Mentor's duties start when the club charters and end six-twelve months later. A list of duties can be found on the Toastmasters International Mentor a Club web page. More information can be found in the Training Manual "NEW CLUB: MENTORING MATTERS." Successfully mentoring a new club can fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Leader Silver Award. A Club Coach is a person who works to rebuild a club with 12 or fewer members. Like club Mentors, coaches do not run the club, rather assist the club's officers and guide the new club back to excellence.
