Welcome to New Thought 2021
District 55’s First Free Virtual Conference
Dana Morgan-Barnes, DTM has been a Toastmaster since 1993. The year she was District Governor (Director) 2007-2008, her team brought District 26 to distinguished status. Over the years, she has continued to serve the District by serving as Club Coach, training at TLI’s and sitting on advisory committees. Dana is currently an Area Director, having completed another
year as Division Director the previous year. She is a member in 3 clubs: 2 in her home state of Wyoming and 1 out of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dana joined Toastmasters as a chartered member of the corporate club Stock Talk, because she thought public speaking would be FUN. Along with having fun speaking, she also discovered the exciting world of Toastmasters leadership. |
She received her first DTM in 2002. Collecting DTM’s was never a priority for Dana, but with the end of the Legacy educational program drawing neigh, she felt the pull to turn in the paperwork and now is the holder of 4 DTM’s. Having a passion to see people grow into their best selves is one reason Dana stays in Toastmasters. The thrill of seeing a nervous, new member deliver an Ice Breaker and then 6 months later deliver a well-constructed speech with confidence keeps her coming back for more.
This passion is what drives her professional life as a business coach for entrepreneurs, an author and trainer. Dana enjoys working with clients from around the world and looks forward to speaking about the power of kindness every chance she gets. Leaving the corporate world 13 years ago was the second best decision she has made. Her best decision was to fall for and marry the love of her life, fellow Toastmaster, John Barnes. They make their home in Cheyenne Wyoming, where the deer and antelope really do play.

Saturday Evening Keynote
Kindness…..There’s a Thought!
What a year it has been! Everyone has been affected by the global pandemic in one way or another. Toastmasters clubs and members are no exception. Along with the scramble to work from home, we had to move our clubs to virtual as well.
How did this impact your clubs? How did your members react to another virtual meeting?? Could there actually be benefits coming out of this past year’s lock down? Can we, you and I, take this experience and turn it into a positive?
What are we doing to build our clubs and more importantly, our members up? Is this a time for a new way of thinking about how we build our clubs and grow membership?
Kindness is one of our Core Values. No, it’s not on the coin, the literature or Toastmasters website. But think about it! Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence go hand in hand with compassion, caring and kindness.
Let’s build a better club, a better District and maybe a better world using the concept of kindness. Just think about it. We can do it.
