The Communication Track

Below are the various manuals, programs, and projects associated with achieving education levels on the Communications Track.

The Competent Communication Manual is designed to give new members a strong start in developing a core set of skills for public speaking. Each of the ten projects in this manual focuses on a basic aspect of speech making - from organization to delivery.

New members are mailed this manual when the join. Completion of all 10 projects in the Competent Communication Manual fulfills the requirements for the Competent Communicator (CC) award.

The Advanced Communication Manuals challenge members to further improve their skills in specific areas of public speaking. Some manuals focus on "real life" situations such as public relations and technical briefings, while others help develop more widely applicable skills such as humor and storytelling.

When a new member completes the Competent Communication Manual, s/he will receive two Advanced Communications Manuals of their choosing. These manuals come as part of the New Member Fee.

Completion of two Advanced Communication Manuals fulfills the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB) award. Completion of two additional Advanced Communication Manuals fulfills one of the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) award. Completion of two yet additional Advanced Communication Manuals fulfills one of the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG) award.

The Better Speaker Series is a set of 10 educational speeches on speaking-related topics. These speeches are usually presented during a club meeting. Included in each speech kit is a script/outline and a PowerPoint presentation on CD.

Presentation of a Better Speaker Series speech can help fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) award.

The Successful Club Series is a set of 11 educational speeches about improving the quality of club meetings and tips on attracting and maintaining members. These speeches are usually presented during a club meeting. Included in each speech kit is a script/outline and a PowerPoint presentation on CD.

Presentation of a Successful Club Series module can help fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) award or the Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB) award.

The Success/Leadership presentations, six in all, are designed to offer a higher, more comprehensive level of training for developing stronger leadership skills. In addition to the presentation materials, each module also provides ample opportunity for participants to practice what they have learned.

Presenting a Success/Leadership program can help fulfill one of the requirements for the Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG) award.
