About Club Officer Training

  • Training events are held in two 3-month periods each year: June through August (Summer or Period 1) and December through February (Winter or Period 2).
  • Toastmasters Leadership Institutes (TLIs) are all day events which include Club Officer Training in addition to other Communication and Leadership education sessions. Typically there will be a keynote address.
  • Club Officer Training events (COTs) typically just include Club Officer Training.
  • Events are held in various cities in the District.
  • These events are open to all Toastmasters.
  • Club officers are strongly encouraged to attend officer training twice a year. In addition to learning how to serve their club members and enhancing leadership and communication skills, training allows achievement of goals toward the Advanced Leader Bronze education level and credit for the club in the Distinguished Club Program.
  • For a club, earning the Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goal for Officer Training is a two-part journey. Four or more of the clubs officers have to be trained in the summer season, AND four or more in the winter season. The journey starts with the summer training season.
