Good Day Fellow Toastmasters!!!
This message is to inform you about "Swab the DEC", District 55's Newest Advanced Club that is being formed specifically for the purpose of developing District Leaders through training, mentoring, and fellowship.
In keeping with the purpose of this club, we are seeking individuals who have either successfully served in Club and District Leadership positions, those currently serving, and those who aspire to do so in the future. If you know of someone who is seeking leadership development opportunities, please share the mission of this club with them and assist them in joining us.
The club will meet once per month, on a Saturday during afternoon/early evening at a restaurant in San Marcos. These meetings will be planned to coincide with scheduled District Executive Council (DEC) meetings so that we can fellowship and have our Advanced Toastmasters Club meeting afterward!
We'll teach the how-to's of the Successful Club Series, invite in guest speakers that have excelled in the leadership track, and present best practices for being an effective leader in Toastmasters (and every other capacity of life). Most importantly, it will allow us all the chance to build friendships with one another across the geography of the District so that we can work together effectively and have a lot of fun at the same time!
The target audience for this club's members are current, former, and aspiring District Leaders. This includes District Executive Leaders and Staff, Division Governors and their Assistants, Area Governors and their Assistants, Members of the Education & Training Committee, Members of the Marketing Committee, Conference & TLI Chairs and Club Sponsors, Mentors and Coaches. Essentially, Every aspiring leader in District 55 has the privilege to be a member.
If YOU have considered stepping into one of these roles but feel like you want more preparation to guarantee your success, joining this club is a smart first step. There's no better way to tackle a challenge than listening to and learning from those who have done it before. If becoming a Distinguished Toastmaster is one of your personal goals, your journey will be greatly accelerated by the influence of your fellow club members in Swab the DEC. Iron sharpens iron, and we will sharpen one another!
We also have a Vice President, Public Relations and Sergeant-at-Arms positions vacant, so if you'd like to volunteer for one of the following offices, please let me know
I can't wait to see you all at the inaugural meeting following our DEC Meeting on July 13th! We'll be ready to begin pursuing the mission of "Swab the DEC"- Developing Leaders in District 55. After all, we ARE Toastmasters, and this is where Leaders are MADE.
Let's get to it!!!
