Message from Lieutenant Governor Education & Training Linda Williams

July 2, 2010

Linda Williams

Happy New Year!

We have gotten a running start on training club officers for the 2010-2011 Toastmasters Year. With three fabulous TLIs on June 26, 280 officers have been trained. District 55 is certainly getting a Jack Rabbit start on the new year!

Jack Rabbit Dash: Step Out…and Step Up! for a Jump Start on Becoming a Distinguished Club in the 2010-2011 Toastmaster Year

The Jack Rabbit Dash is a challenge to encourage clubs to get a strong start on the 2010-2011 Toastmaster year. The prize will be banner ribbons and the satisfaction of knowing that you had a personal role in helping your club begin the journey to being Distinguished!

The Jack Rabbit Dash

All of these activities will help your club to build momentum for a Distinguished Toastmasters year

The Jack Rabbit Dash runs from July 1st through September 30th. Start dashing! For details, check out the Jack Rabbit Program for Clubs and the Jack Rabbit Program for Areas (link coming for Area program)

Officer Training

Officer training will continue through the months of July and August. Please continue to check the Training Page for opportunities near you!

Providing quality training for all Toastmasters officers during the 2010-2011 Toastmasters year is a high priority for District 55. As a result, we have developed a Train the Trainer video (below).

If you have been asked to lead an officer training session, or if you are just interested in what is involved in being a trainer, please watch this video. We hope it will encourage you to step out…and step up to help our district offer outstanding training to all our club officers.

The Training scripts and Power Point Presentations can be accessed on the Club Training Materials Page on the Toastmasters International (TI) website. The Individual Officer Manuals are also available on the TI website - President. VP Education. VP Membership. VP Public Relations. Secretary. Treasurer. and Sergeant-at-Arms.

Incentive for Getting All Seven Officers Trained

If your club gets all seven officers trained during the months of June through August, the club may choose a gift of either 7 officer pins or a complete set of Advanced Communication Manuals.

Club Success Banner Ribbon

If your club has not already received a Club Success banner ribbon at a TLI, your area governor will be bringing you one during a club visit. Ten empty squares are printed on this ribbon representing the 10 Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals plus one printed star for the membership requirement to become Distinguished. As your club completes each goal of the DCP, you will fill that box with a gold sticky star (provided by your Area Governor) demonstrating that you have earned the point.

Five gold stars plus the membership star covered means your club has attained Distinguished status! Two more stars means your club is Select Distinguished. When you add another two, your club has become President’s Distinguished. If you fill all ten boxes plus the membership star, your club qualifies as a member of an elite group of Over Achievers! Throughout the year you will have a tangible reminder of where your club currently is in the DCP and how far you need to go to accomplish your goals.

Competent Communicator and Competent Leader Incentive (CC/CL)

Are you making full use of the Toastmasters program? If you complete a first ever Competent Communicator manual AND a first ever Competent Leader manual by June 15, 2011 (results on TI website), District 55 will give you your choice of one gift - Here is the Gift Selection.

Which gift will you choose for completing your first CC and first CL? In addition to the gift, how will increasing your communication and leadership skills benefit you? Your club must post your completion of the two manuals on the TI website between the dates of July 1, 2010, and June 15, 2011 for you to be eligible to receive a gift. You can check the Current Year Educational Achievements on the Toastmasters International website to see if and when they have been posted. When both the CC and the CL awards have been posted, please contact me with the name and item number of your selection. Your gift will be presented at the fall or spring district conference or will be delivered to your club meeting by your friendly Area Governor.

We encourage every member to Step Out..and Step Up to greater success this Toastmasters year!
