May 15 Deadline Approaches

The May 15th deadline for filing the 990-N Electronic Postcard is fast approaching!

To help with the filing process, Toastmasters International has put together a set of detailed instructions to help you. Before beginning the filing, please print the instructions and read them carefully.

Note that some clubs will not be able to complete the process of filing the 990-N until after June 30th because the club's year end is not December 31st. Step 2 of the detailed instructions explains what to do if this occurs.

District Governor's Message

February is a month of hearts, flowers, and candy. This year, for the members of District 55, it was also a month of change. Jeff Stoddard decided he needed to resign as District Governor because of his health. LGET Stan See quickly stepped in as acting District Governor and along with LGM Margaret Cathey began the discussion to determine who to appoint to replace Jeff. I was very honored when Stan asked if I would be willing to serve. It was not a decision I took lightly, but when asked to serve the members of our district it is difficult to say no. New District Governor

On Wednesday, February 13th, District Governor Jeff Stoddard submitted his resignation effective immediately. He cited health reasons as the cause of his resignation. Please keep Jeff in your thoughts and prayers.

On February 16, at a scheduled District 55 District Executive Council meeting, the District Executive Council unanimously approved a recommendation from LGET Stan See to appoint Paula Tunison, DTM, PDG, PID to the position of District Governor for the remainder of this term ending June 30, 2008.

The mission of the district is to enhance the performance and extend the network of clubs, thereby offering greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from the Toastmasters educational program by:

• Focusing on the critical success factors as specified by the district educational and membership goals.
• Insuring that each club effectively fulfills its responsibilities to its members.
• Providing effective training and leadership opportunities for club and district officers.
