District 55       Club 1869

Get Up 'n Go Toastmasters is the second oldest Toastmasters Club in Austin. The club received it's charter from Toastmasters International, on May 1, 1963. Get Up 'n Go was started by a group of prominent Austin business leaders, who recognizing the need for a venue, where professionals could gather to improve their communication and leadership skills.

Get Up 'n Go Toastmasters is open to anyone who desires to become a better communicator and group leader. The Toastmasters International program is a proven way to attain these goals. Since its' inception on October 22, 1924, Toastmasters International has helped over four million members overcome the fear of public speaking.

We meet for breakfast at Waterloo Ice House, NE Corner, Loop 360 at FM 2222. The meetings start promptly at 7:00 AM, and we adjourn at 8:00 AM. Our program consists of three parts. We begin with two prepared speeches, given by members who have had several weeks to prepare these talks. We then have a round of extemporaneous talks, where members are given an opportunity to speak "off the cuff", on a subject that has not been reveled to them, until they come forward to the lectern. We conclude with the evaluation portion of the meeting, where each of the prepared speakers receives a positive evaluation of their talk, by a member who had previously been assigned that duty.

At Get Up n' Go Toastmasters, we don't promise to get rid of those butterflys you feel, prior to getting up to speak in front of a group. We do, however, help you to get them flying in formation ! Please feel free to join us, any Monday morning, to see what Get Up 'n Go is all about !
