Highlights

Toastmasters International is a diverse, multi-cultural organization that provides each of us the opportunity to learn from one another as we develop our communication and leadership skills. We are blessed to have people from many different backgrounds not only in Toastmasters International, but also right here in District 55. And, we celebrate that diversity around us; it broadens our perspective and understanding of the world we live in.

The Toastmasters of the Austin area welcome you to join us November 18-20 for the Fall District 55 Conference at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Austin. Our theme is “Celebrating Toastmasters Around the World.” The conference will feature the food, language, music, and culture of some of the 116 countries that currently host Toastmasters clubs around the world. Together, we’ll take a journey around the world through the eyes of Toastmasters.

Our district will be honored by a special visit from the International President of Toastmasters, Michael Notaro. We’ll get to learn firsthand from our president about the future of the organization, both here in District 55 and around the world. What a special treat that will be!

Come join us in Austin on November 18th as District 55 “Celebrates Toastmasters Around the World!”

Featured Guest:
International President Michael Notaro, DTM

Michael Notaro, DTM, of Alameda, California, is an attorney, principal of the Notaro Law Group and a licensed real estate broker. Before opening his law practice, Notaro was the president of Phoenix Commercial Realty. He earned his law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco.

Notaro joined Toastmasters during his senior year at the University of California, Berkeley, to learn techniques for delivering a graduation speech. He was immediately impressed with the program and how it improved the members' self-confidence.

“Toastmasters has given me a wealth of friends worldwide and unparalleled professional growth,” says Notaro, a 23-year-member of the Oakland City Center club in Oakland, California. He’s also a member of LaughLovers Comedy club in Oakland and the Cherry City Toastmasters in San Leandro, California.

As an officer of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Notaro is a “working ambassador” for the organization. He works with the Board to develop, support and modify the policies and procedures that guide the organization in fulfilling its mission.
